Voki

Voki is a wonderfully fun website that allows anyone to create and customise their own talking "Avatar". This site would be very useful for any teacher looking for a new way to help teach their children, as it will provide them with a completely different style of learning which will be fun and interactive. Voki allows anyone to create these "Avatars" and share them with everyone allowing for a fantastically interactive way of learning as it will allow children to explore their classmates' "Avatars". Obviously sharing these on the internet may not be suitable for children in primary school age but can be done in secondary school. It can be used to help children learn as all the teacher has to do is type in what he/she wants to say and the Avatar will say it. How will this help them to learn? Well it's completely different to any other way children would have learnt before, it's completely new to them and it breaks up the lesson to something a bit more fun which is imperative to children’s learning. If you look at one of my recent blogs called Nativity Sonnet, that’s created with Voki. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZX05alxaTPo

Twitter, the same as the rest ? Or different ?

For many people these days Twitter is seen as a way to get away from the controversy surrounding Facebook. But is Twitter really that different from the rest? From personal experience of having accounts on both Facebook and Twitter I have always used Twitter more than any other social site, but why is this? There are many advantages of Twitter, one of them being that it is seen to be a more opinion based site, where people can express their views on any topic they wish and people will tweet back what their opinions on the subject is. However, this is not always a good thing as many people have very strong opinions and this can lead to heated debates between people which sometimes ends up with strong language and occasionally abuse towards each other, although such occasions are rare. The main advantage about twitter is that it is more interactive than most other social networks, as many celebrities are on Twitter and people are able to tweet them and on occasions the celebrities will tweet back or retweet them. Overall Twitter is a lot different and lets hope it stays that way.
